Instiga rock
It is desarmed of discourses that the friends Christian Camilo, Gabriel Duarte, Heitor Pellegrina and Pedro Leite prefer to define the band. But also it can be said that Instiga is a kind of ride to Barão Geraldo, a district where the quartet appeared in Campinas. In the context of stories based on sentimental misencouters, abandoned dreams, parties, cyborgs and internal jokes about Harrison Ford, they invested in melodies accessible and fueled of vigor and lirism.
After listening to one of the albums of the group, remains the sensation of belonging to the spontaneous universe of these guys which sound has psychedelic traces and flerts, without loosing hand, with folk, MPB (Brazilian popular music) and country music, with the British pop and, sometimes, even experiments the punk crudeness. Instiga is irreverence and sweetness, without anything exactly planned.
With a rock in permanent construction and which gives reason to the name of their band, these "campineiros" (this group from Campinas) present a new work: BOY SINGS GIRL, their second and awaited CD in almost seven years of "road". The CD has 12 original tracks, produced, arranged and composed by the group, with mixage and masterization signed by Iuri Freiberger (musical producer of names such as Walverdes, Vionis and MQN). Already well known by the public which frequented the praised shows of pre-casting in the Southeast and South of the country, BOY SINGS GIRL is the bet of the "paulist" seal "Trombador Discos " and will be distributed in the whole country in the month of July.
The Album
BOY SINGS GIRL opens with "Cure yourself", one of the strongest candidates to a hit of Instiga. The inflamed guitar of Heitor gives the ideal tone to the tense letter sung by Christian who contests: "Please, stop doing all these things/ Cure yourself from this interminable fobia of not talking". In the refrain, the track gains chewing gum contours, with right to "papapas" and to the redemption: "ok, everything is well, the door is here, wide open/ and you have permission to enter". "Sabiá", one of the most demanded in the shows, takes two minutes of one of the most mature pops.
In the urgent "Olá", it is time of the guitarist to loose the voice. And if Instiga is rock, the music is the best example of it. The drums of Pedro has dancing track and the bass gains a more punk accent. With two heavy guitars and strong foot in the pedals, the music doesn´t offer another alternative unless to increase the volume to the maximum. The party continues with "Ivan, o Terrível" ("Ivan, the Terrible"), the most beautiful blow in the ears of BOY SINGS GIRL. "Humans balance, everything is mathematical", conclude the surrealistic verses, which approach a world where every movement is calculated and the true love seems impossible.
The second half of the disc comes more arid, dense and post-rock. In "Carência de Bêbado" (drunk privation), the marking bass and the fingered guitars accompany the end of a relationship comforted by doses of alcohol which lasts until the scenery changes and the instruments meet in an hallucinated frequency , with distinction to the breathtaking drums beating . "Herói" (hero) arrives with distinct melodic lines – with distinction to the bass of Gabriel – and, ironically, exalts the anti-heroism: "By chance, can you forget me?/ Go out of here/ Work or read a book (…) Don´t wait that I could save you." BOY SINGS GIRL concludes with "Meu amor" (my love), a mysterious ballad, carefully performed with special effects. It makes us question if we still are hearing the same CD. And it is there that Instiga makes inevitable the action to hit the "play button" once more.
History
Mentioned as revelation of the new national rock harvest, they debuted with the album "Máquina Milenar" (millenary machine) in 2005. Due to this CD, they brought attention from hearers in other places of Brazil and even outside of the country. They had songs executed in radios of the United States – Instiga was the first Brazilian band to have two musics played in Portuguese in Woxy, online well-known radio station of California – and of Europe. Finally, they also gained attention of local critique.
Fans of home videos, they produced and acted in the first demo clip of the group, made to "Birra", and achieved to participate in the programming of the Lab, from MTV. They licensed the complete repertoire in Creative Commons, let several songs at disposal for download and today they have thousands of fans in MySpace.
They also launched a virtual EP by the Spanish label "A Regueifa", baptized "Bastidores do Microssegundo" (backstages of the micro second) in 2006. In the same year, they participated of the sound track of the Documentary "Leste" ("east", Brazil) and of the short-films "O forasteiro" (the foreigner) (Brasil) and "Sanatório" (sanatorium) (Spain), besides having been classified among the three finalists of a band contest promoted by Trama and by the Magazine Capricho. In Brazil, they sang in São Paulo (capital and interior), Belo Horizonte (state of Minas Gerais) and Curitiba (State of Paraná). They also received invitations for shows in Goiânia (State of Goiás), Brasília (Federal District) and Porto Velho (State of Rondônia). And all indicates that other opportunities will appear.
